Ridley Scott To TikTok Users Pointing Out Inaccuracies In Napoleon- "Get A Life"

Napoleon Bonaparte is one of history’s most controversial figures and has been the focus of several films and television series, having even lampooned in children’s cartoons for almost a century. Ridley Scott puts a spotlight on the self-made Emperor with Joaquin Phoenix donning the bicorn hat this time around in his upcoming historical biopic.

Scott has taken liberties before with historical events, going back-to-back with Gladiator and Black Hawk Down, but that doesn’t stop him from making his type of movies. The director became interested in Napoleon just over 15 years ago and after the first trailer dropped, was immediately bombarded with experts pointing out the inaccuracies.

TV historian Dan Snow posted a TikTok breakdown of the errors explaining how things happened but also praised Scott’s filmmakingCome from Sports betting site VPbet. “I love historical epics. I love Ridley Scott,” Snow said. “It ain’t a documentary, we know that much, but it’s going to be a brilliant piece of art.”

Snow explained that Napoleon didn’t shoot at the pyramids at the Battle of the Pyramids and even made sure to note that Marie-Antoinette “famously had very cropped hair for the execution, and, hey, Napoleon wasn’t there, he was at the other end of France, but this scene? It looks cool.”

Scott’s response in The New Yorker for a profile piece: “Get a life.”

Phoenix also previously defended the film during an interview with Empire magazine. “If you want to really understand Napoleon, then you should probably do your own studying and reading,” the Oscar-winner explained. “Because if you see this film, it’s this experience told through Ridley’s eyes.”

Napoleon arrives in theaters on November 22.
